NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced communications, networking and IT solutions, today announced the launch of its new NEC Express5800/ft series fault-tolerant servers with support for Microsoft® Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtualization.
Available in North America and Asia Pacific today, NEC Express5800/ft series fault-tolerant servers are designed for hosting mission-critical business applications in a wide variety of data center environments and industries. The Express5800/ft series provides redundancy for essential hardware components including CPU and memory to avoid system downtime due to hardware failures. Building a Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platform on NEC FT servers can significantly reduce the risk of failure when compared to non-redundant servers. In addition, hardware-based fault tolerance can provide significant performance improvements over software-based fault tolerant solutions.
Microsoft Hyper-V 2.0 support
The new NEC FT servers support Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and virtualization platform Hyper-V2.0 to create virtualized environments on fault tolerant hardware. In addition, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise ships with four guest operating system licenses for added cost savings.
Latest CPU support and 1.4 times the performance of previous models Powered by Intel® Xeon® processors, the NEC Express5800/R320b-M4 achieves 1.4 times the performance of previous models. As well as Hyper-Vs supreme operational manageability, it delivers high server consolidation capabilities. The new FT models provide an optimal platform for server consolidation.
“With the full support of Windows Server Hyper-V on NEC’s next generation FT Server Series, customers can now realize the highest level of virtualization availability for mission critical workloads on Hyper-V in their data centers.” – Bill Laing, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Windows Server
“Hyper-V running on the NEC FT Server allows us to offer our Microsoft cloud-based virtualization clients an SLA never seen before in a hosted solution.” – Eric Miller, CEO, Genesis Hosting Solutions LLC
