Leostream Corporation, a leading developer of virtual hosted desktop software, today announced support for Red Hat® Enterprise Virtualization 3.0. The solution provides enterprises with the high scalability, security and performance of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor and the high-performance SPICE protocol, along with the manageability, flexibility and scalability of the Leostream Connection Broker for a truly enterprise-class virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) with a multi-media desktop experience.
Leostream utilized the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization REST API to natively integrate with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
This integration allows organizations to use Leostream to:
- Inventory Microsoft Windows and Linux virtual machines hosted in a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environment
- Control the power state of these virtual machines, using the Leostream Connection Broker
- Utilize the suite of policy actions available in Leostream to assign these virtual machines to users
- Use the SPICE protocol to connect users to these virtual machines
In addition, Leostream Connection Broker 7.5 is available as a virtual appliance that can run directly on a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor, allowing organizations to standardize on the highly scalable Red Hat virtualization platform.
“Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 brings compelling performance, scalability and cost leadership and an open virtualization solution to customers,” said Navin Thadani, senior director, Virtualization Business at Red Hat. “Partnering with Leostream on support for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 expands the value we’re able to deliver to enterprises around the world and allows them to build out scalable, high-performance VDI environments.”
“Our integration with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 continues our practice of allowing enterprises to choose the best technologies to reach their business goals and end-user requirements,” said Michael Palin, CEO of Leostream. “The strength of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and the SPICE protocol are invaluable as the virtualization market grows and more organizations require enterprise-class solutions and a rich multi-media experience.”
