CodeLathe, the leading provider of private cloud solutions for enterprises and IT service providers, today announced the immediate availability of FileCloud 8.0. This latest major release of the industry’s most advanced, file sharing and sync solution is available for immediate download from the FileCloud customer portal. FileCloud 8.0 delivers activity streams, file comments, quick document editing, and mobile policy support to security conscious enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs).
“FileCloud 8.0 is ideal for businesses that value security and data ownership,” said Madhan Kanagavel, chief executive of CodeLathe. “This latest release, with best-in-class file collaboration and productivity features wrapped in a simple, cost-effective package, establishes FileCloud as a clear leader in the enterprise file-sharing market. It is, quite simply, our best release ever.”
FileCloud empowers corporate IT departments and MSPs to create their own, secure file sharing and sync platform. Since FileCloud is a pure-play software solution, businesses can choose to deploy it on-premise or on public cloud IaaS services depending on their needs. With FileCloud, businesses have complete control over its business data, and how it is shared.
Highlights of the new FileCloud 8.0 release include:
- Activity Streams – The new activity stream feature provides a place to easily review every action taken on files and folders saved within FileCloud. Any action, such as adding a new presentation; updating a spreadsheet; sharing a document with your team; to downloading an image is tracked.
- File Comments – This feature aids collaboration, and takes team communication to the next level. For example, a project leader can add a comment on a file that was sent for review. The comments section of the activity for each file or folder, will display who commented, what they said, and when.
- Quick Document Edit – The quick edit feature allows users to select a document from the FileCloud Web User Interface, open, edit and save the document as a new version without the need to actually download and upload the file to the FileCloud server.
- Embedded Upload Form – The upload form enables users to embed a small FileCloud interface for file uploads to a specific folder.
“After a thorough analysis of existing on-premise file sharing solutions, we believe that FileCloud is by far the best solution available,” said Filip Herman, Group ICT Manager, CAVIAR Group. “There was no need for us to move our existing file shares to a proprietary file system, and we were able to keep working with existing Active Directory NTFS permissions. We are very excited to see FileCloud 8.0, and its new file collaboration features.”
CAVIAR Group is a creative production company with offices in Brussels, Los Angeles, Paris, Amsterdam, London and Prague.
FileCloud starts at US$999/year for 20 users. Pay-as-you-go service provider licensing (SPLA) starts at US$2500 for IT service providers. FileCloud is available through 37 partners in 17 countries around the globe.
