Open vSwitch 2014 Fall Conference: Revaliwhat?
presented by: Joe Stringer, VMware
When OpenFlow flow tables change, or when certain other events occur, Open vSwitch has to re-examine all of the flows pushed into the datapath. Open vSwitch has to do essentially the same process periodically in any case to ensure that OpenFlow flow statistics can be kept up-to-date. The performance of this process, which we call "revalidation", is key to overall Open vSwitch performance under load. This talk examines how revalidation works and how it has evolved over time to better support OVS performance under load.
