WatchDox, a provider of secure enterprise file sharing solutions, has acquired InstallFree, a developer of application portability, virtualization and access solutions. WatchDox augments its unique file-sharing platform, which builds security into the files themselves, with InstallFree’s capabilities for creating and editing files across platforms and devices.
The InstallFree development team joins WatchDox to expand the capabilities of the most secure enterprise file sharing and collaboration solution on the market. In addition to securely accessing, syncing and collaborating with their files, WatchDox users now have the ability to securely edit documents, spreadsheets or presentations with a native Microsoft Office experience on mobile devices, PCs and within the WatchDox Web application.
“Our remote access and editing technology makes a valuable addition to WatchDox’s secure collaboration capabilities,” said Rakesh Narasimhan, CEO of InstallFree, Inc.
“Users want the ability to work productively from any device; to cope with that, enterprises need to be able to protect, track and control data as it travels anywhere, from personal devices to external collaborators,” said Moti Rafalin, chief executive officer at WatchDox. “With InstallFree’s pioneering cross-platform editing technology, WatchDox users can collaborate across devices and operating systems while still enjoying the peace of mind that sensitive data remains secure.”
The InstallFree technology will be incorporated into the WatchDox virtual appliance platform and will be generally available in early 2013. InstallFree’s innovative work on lightweight application virtualization and remote access will continue to expand the capabilities of the WatchDox platform in future releases to enable secure access to any enterprise application on any device.
