VMworld 2012: Teradici, the developer of the innovative PC-over-IP® (PCoIP®) protocol that enables a true PC experience for desktop virtualization, today announced the launch of its PCoIP Optimized software client on the HP t410 Smart Zero Client. PCoIP Optimized clients are software clients for VMware View™ deployments that have been optimized to take advantage of specific partner platforms. The PCoIP Optimized client enables a new solution that combines the flexibility of an embedded platform with the high performance and rich feature set for which Teradici PCoIP clients are renowned.
Hewlett Packard’s t410 Smart Zero Client takes advantage of a PCoIP Optimized client to deliver the best possible PCoIP performance on Texas Instruments DM8148 processor. Teradici and HP engineers have collaborated closely to develop a unique solution that leverages both the ARM and DSP cores of the DM8148 SoC used in the t410. The t410 is available both as an integrated PoE monitor all-in-one unit drawing only 13W of power and as a standard desktop unit.
“We are thrilled to partner with HP on the launch of the PCoIP Optimized client for the HP t410,” said Trent Punnett, vice president of marketing at Teradici. “With the growing adoption of VDI across the enterprise, Teradici recognizes the need to provide end users with a range of VDI client solutions that encompass diverse features and form factors. These new clients add to Teradici’s extensive ecosystem of high-performance PCoIP zero clients using Teradici silicon.”
“Working with Teradici on the PCoIP Optimized client for the HP t410 has enabled us to combine HP’s innovative ARM-based hardware with fantastic PCoIP performance and features to deliver a desktop client suitable for a broad range of use cases,” said Jeff Groudan, director, thin clients, HP. “The HP t410’s unique low-power display and PoE technology running Teradici’s PCoIP Optimized client is a great addition to our growing portfolio of comprehensive PCoIP solutions that address the needs of a growing and increasingly diverse community of VDI users.”
“Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) recognizes the growing market need for SoC-based VDI clients that deliver high performance at low power levels,” said Kim Devlin-Allen, thin client business manager, OMAP™ platform business unit, TI. “With a smart multicore architecture and DSP-based VDI accelerator, our DM8148 processor enables the ‘right core for the chore’ for optimized performance and power. With this proven approach, Teradici has been able to deliver an incredibly compelling remote display experience.”
PCoIP Optimized software clients complement Teradici’s existing ecosystem of PCoIP solutions including PCoIP zero clients, Teradici APEX™ 2800 server offload cards, remote workstation hosts, VMware View® and Teradici RDSH for Microsoft® RDS environments.
Teradici PCoIP Optimized clients including the HP t410 will be demonstrated at Teradici booth #917 and HP booth #1503 at VMworld 2012 taking place August 26-30 at the Moscone Center, San Francisco.
